Sadly, Doug Holmberg left us on February 25, 2022. If you have memories of Doug you’d like to share, please send them to Linda (lindakbuckley@yahoo.com), and they will be added here.
Following is his published obituary from the East Bay Times. He lived in Concord, California.
Douglas Steven Holmberg, Sr.
June 19, 1951 – February 25, 2022
Resident of Concord, CA
After a final sunset on February 25, 2022, Douglas Steven Holmberg Sr (born June 19, 1951) left this spinning rock and began the cosmic journey onward. A Bay Area native, with roots in San Francisco and home base in Concord, Doug pursued a lifelong quest for knowledge and innovation. Doug’s dedication and loyalty to family were unrivaled, as was his generosity and kindness to others; a man who has literally been seen to give someone the shirt off his back. Doug had an infectious passion for life that could not be ignored. From his creative problem solving, to unparallelled knowledge on any topic, he could connect and relate to anyone. Doug was a true gentleman in every sense of the word, with a charm rivaled only by his good looks. He was a man who valued hard work and a job well done and was loved, admired, and respected by everyone who had the pleasure to cross his path. Doug’s passions included quality time with his kids and grandkids, music, golf, car racing, traveling and a good day spent outside. Never has there been a man more devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, mother and siblings. As a philosopher at his core and a stalwart for his family, a gaping hole has been left that will remain unfilled. Doug is forever in the hearts and minds of his true love Karen, his children, Jennifer (Paul), Doug Jr (Kim), Leya (Brian), Alii (Gil), Nick (Kayla), and Matt (Ashely), 8 grandchildren, his beloved parents, Richard Sr and Gloria, his sisters, Michelle (Greg Sr), Sandy (Jerry), Linda (Roger), and Lisa (Martin), his brothers, Rich (Connie) and Steve (Joanne), his in-laws, Tom and Loretta, Mike (Denita), and close extended family. A Celebration of Life is planned for March 13 at 1pm at Oakhurst Golf & Country Club in Clayton. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a STEM scholarship in his honor (for more info 408.603.6575).
